Becoming a Referee

Becoming a Match Official

Becoming a match official requires completion of Scottish Rugby's "Introduction to Match Officiating" Course.

This course is a blended learning experience, consisting of some online modules followed by a live 1 day session where you will get to put your new skills to the test.

Upon successful completion you will be qualified to referee club rugby games up to U16 level, and if you choose to join a referee society, you can expect to be refereeing Adult and U18 games, starting at the lower leagues as the society helps you to develop your skill set

ADRRS has a team of dedicated referee coaches who will come and watch you in action, and provide comprehensive support to enable you to referee to the best of your ability.

Further courses and opportunities are available to Society members and will enable you to take your refereeing career as far as you want to, some of our members have gone on to referee at the highest levels.
